FEMART 8th Edition
FemArt Festival - the 8th edition will take place in Prishtina on October 15-20, 2020.
FemArt is an internationally recognized feminist festival, which has managed to empower women and girls in the recognition of their full rights through good and quality art created by women artists and activists to achieve political, economic, cultural, personal, and social equality.
The motto of the FemArt Festival 2020 is "Solidarity and Resilience". Solidarity as a principle of mutual support between women and girls, women artists and activists working together for gender equality and women's rights. Resilience as the ability to face adversity, trauma, and challenge by getting back on our feet whenever we fall and raising our voice whenever they try to silence us.

Participating Artists and Activists
Adelina Thaqi – Soprano (Prishtina) has a master degree in solo singing (Canto) from the Academy of Arts in Skopje (Macedonia). Mrs. Thaqi is a teacher and solo singing pedagogue with an experience of more than 20 years.
Albana Piperku – Alto (Prishtina) has graduated in music from the Academy of Arts in Prishtina, and for the past two decades works as a piano teacher and pedagogue. She is also member of the Philharmonic of Kosovo Choir.
Arstina Kadiu – Mezzo-soprano (Prishtina) has graduated in music from the Academy of Arts in Prishtina. She has a long experience as a music teacher, and is also member of the Philharmonic of Kosovo Choir.
Diellza Sylejmani – Mezzo-soprano (Prishtina) has a master degree in solo singing (Canto) and graduated from the Academy of Arts in Skopje (Macedonia). Mrs.Sylejmani is a senior official at the Department of Culture and a soloist of the Philharmonic of Kosovo.
Elida Kryeziu – Soprano (Prishtina) has a master degree in solo singing (Canto) and graduated from the Academy of Arts in Tirana (Albania). Mrs. Kryeziu is member of the Philharmonic of Kosovo Choir.
Ardita Rafuna (July 12, 1999) was born in Unna-Germany and lives in Prishtina.
She continues her studies for painting in the third year, at the Faculty of
Arts, at the University of Prishtina. In addition to painting, she has a passion for
photography, reading, films, writing, performing and fashion design.
During her studies so far she has participated in collective student exhibitions
at the Faculty of Arts. In the summer of 2019 she participated in the summer school
organized by Stacion - Center for Contemporary Art also in the mural festival
«MOS» 2019. At the end of 2019 she participated in the playwriting masterclass of
the German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig, organized in the offices of the
Multimedia Center.
She continues her studies for painting in the third year, at the Faculty of
Arts, at the University of Prishtina. In addition to painting, she has a passion for
photography, reading, films, writing, performing and fashion design.

Arlinda Morina-Liki born on 15.04.1983 in Prishtina.
In 2006 she graduated from the Academy of Arts

Artan Hajrullahu (born in 1979 in Gjilan, Kosovo) studied Painting at the Academy
of Arts, University of Prishtina. Hajrullahu teaches Painting at the High School of

Edlir Gashi, born in 1994 in Skenderaj, Professional actor, graduated from the University of Arts in Prishtina in 2017. Counts several participations in important artistic projects in Kosovo and abroad, collaborations with eminent Albanian and foreign theater and film directors, participation in Europe and America! Among the most important performances
at the National Theater of Kosovo ar; Destur - Sweet Blasphemy, Desire Tours, The Forgotten, Trojan women (New York and Pristina), etc. He often challenges himself with the task of director as was the artistic Project of the center “Artpolis” in Pristina with the play
Unhappy Happiness. He also engages as a professional acting coach with the younger generations, thus trying to convey the beautiful art of acting.

Edon Ramadani – Conductor (Mitrovica) has a master degree in conducting from the Academy of Arts in Skopje (Macedonia) and is currently working as a professor of conducting in the Academy of Arts in Prishtina.
Robert Nuha, artistic name (NOA), was born in Komoran (RKS) 1990. He started his artistic
career with folk dance and later in urban styles. He is organizer of several cultural events
throughout Kosovo. He graduated in choreography, Bach 2016 and Master 2019 at the
University of Arts in Tirana. He is part of the AlbaniaDance Theater Company. He has
participated in a large number of artistic projects with Albanian and foreign artists, presenting his works at various festivals throughout Europe, including Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, etc.
In his artistic creativity, he tries to melt the Albanian folk dance in the contemporary style
with which he tries to find a unique and original form of choreography!

Zoe Gudović is a cultural manager, producer and organizer. Since 1995, she has been involved in the work and research of informal and engaged theater forms. In his practice, he combines art and activism in order to change the existing consciousness and social relations. Theater educator. Performer, Toilet artist, Drag king transformer. Winner of the Jelena Šantić Award for the combination of art and activism, and the Feminist Achievement Award - Befem for the promotion of feminism outside the feminist movement. Currently engaged in several creative projects. She especially likes to edit and host the radio show Ženergija.
Mr/Mrs Natasha Poplavska is a founder and President of the association of development of art and cultural cooperation Art media. For the period of 20 years she has developed cultural projects in a field of: theatre, dance, social campaign, awareness of audience, cultural education, anti-discrimination projects supporting minorities and gender rights. Poplavska is part of the Theatre Comedy in Skopje and continuously works in the National theatres in the region developing contemporary theatre, balle , musical, physical theatre and choreodrama. She is also an educator in a field of: psihodrama, physical
theatre, musical theatre and total theatre.

Besfort Syla, 21 years old, lives and works in Prishtina.

(iofC) participating in events, trainings, conferences on topics such as: Creative
Leadership, Children as Actors and Transforming Society, Europe’s Unfinished

and mascots for theater as well as creativity in the field of visual and conceptual art. In
recent years she has been working hard on exploring handicraft design and also putting
traditional handicrafts to work by adapting them into contemporary art. She is the founder
and director of Art Craft Gallery /studio with handicrafts which continues to be open. She
recently joined the field of education at the National Gallery of Kosovo. Vlora lives and
works in Prishtina.

biggest museum in Europe, where she gave a lecture in front of members of
European parliament and senate and many other guests, on the topic POLITICS
AND ART. She was also involved in art critics and some writings, which were
published in several local newspapers. She implemented projects in country and
abroad, such as: murals, mosaics, public art, exhibitions, debates, etc. through the
artistic establishment NEW BALKAN. For several years now, she is in the process of
establishing the house of artists.

Zana Hoxha (born on 1981) is a professional Theater Director from Kosovo and the founder and executive director of Artpolis – a Kosovo-based NGO that promotes arts and diversity through social dialogue and community building.
She has directed around 20 Theater performances that were produced and presented
in the biggest Theater’s in Kosovo, Balkans region (Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia) and has presented her works as an artist/activist/ trainer elsewhere in USA, Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
She was Head of Theater Department of SKENA UP Festival during 2004-2011, Artistic Director of Gjakova Professional Theater during 2011-2014 and is the Founder and Artistic Director of the biggest women’s artists and activists festival FEMART. Zana is IVLP Alumni (The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s
premier professional exchange program) and award winning director recognized for her work in Kosovo and in the region.

Uresa is a free spirit, activist, artist, and especially, a feminist killjoy. She is a double national debate and third-place national poetry contest winner. She received the “Best Volunteer” award at only 15, and continued to receive the Young Critics Award for Best Article at an older age. Hiking is one of her hobbies, so she carries the Gold Award of the Duke of Edinburg. She finished her high school studies at United World College Maastricht in the Netherlands, after she won a national scholarship, and is currently double-majoring in Sociology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wesleyan University,
CT, USA. Writing is one of her specialties. Interrogating, shifting, and expanding social binaries is her passion.

Drin Tashi: Born into a family of musicians, Drin Tashi grew up surrounded by musical instruments, and began to play music at a very young age. Some of the main projects in which he has participated are theatrical performances produced by the Multimedia

Arbër Salihu (born 1991) is a composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Prishtina, Republic of Kosovo. He has been active in the alternative music in Kosovo scene since 2013. In 2017 he launched his own album self-titled with the versatile duo group Oborri, along with four video clips. He has also released music with Cute Babulja, and is part of the live band of singer-songwriter Genc Salihu. He has composed music for the films Me dasht, me dasht, me dasht (2017) and Canaries know (2015), for which he won the Best original score award at the Sapporo Shorts in Japan. Recently he has been active with compositions and performances on the theater stage in Kosovo. He has been a

Semira Latifi was born on January 17, 1989. She graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts – Acting Department, at the University of Prishtina. From the second year of studies she was engaged in the play Rock N’Roll directed by Dino Mustafic, then continued
with the plays Invisible Walls, directed by Florent Mehmeti and John Beedel from the ODA Theater, Six characters looking for the author, File H”, “Bold Singer ”,“ Animal Farm ”,“ Cherry Orchard ”,“ Destur ”,“ Spring Awakening ”, etc. are some of the theatrical projects she was a part of. The performances where she performed were also part of world festivals such as: ExPonto Festival Slovenia 2011;

She has worked on several short feature films, and participated in many international festivals such as: Sundance Film Festival, Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Bradford Film Festival, etc., winning awards in a number of them. She works and lives in Prishtina, Kosovo.

Dea Gjinovci has been filming and writing documentaries following her studies between Geneva, London and Paris. In parallel,she has always worked, either on film projects, or as a freelance journalist for Swiss media (Le Temps) or Anglo-Saxon (AJ +). For them, she directed «This is the sound of climate change» during the protests of COP21 in Paris. In early 2017, she coordinated a crowdfunding campaign for the documentary Mr Gay Syria, a campaign relayed by media such as Vanity Fair, the Guardian and The Economist. In 2017, she directed her first film, «Sans le Kosovo».

Albana Nila is a 21 year old filmmaker (pending). She studies Film and TV Directing in the University of Prishtina. As an enthusiastic activist on human and animal rights, she continuingly tries to explore these social matters in storytelling through film.
Dita Shaqiri was born in Ferizaj in 1996. She completed her undergraduate studies in her hometown, then began her studies in Prishtina in 2014 finishing in 2018 her Bachelor studies in Political Science, then in the same year began her studies at the Faculty of

More Raça is an award-winning writer, director, and women’s rights activist born in Kosovo in 1992. More holds a BA and MA degree in Film Directing from the University of Prishtina and is currently enrolled in Ph.D. studies in Bulgaria. Her debut feature film Andromeda Galaxy won the Glocal in Progress award at San Sebastian Film Festival and world premiere at the Mian competition of Sarajevo Film festival. Mjellma Ibrahimi Born on May 6th, 2003, in Prishtina. In parallel with the formal primary school, she completed the primary school of music in "Prenk Jakova" Prishtina, where she continues her studies in the high school, to this day, piano branch. She has participated in piano competitions, nationally and internationally, claiming first and second place prizes. For the 70th anniversary of the music school "Prenk Jakova", she showed seriousness and decisiveness in voluntary work, always prepared for every activity.
